How a hand goes

1. 1Place your chips before the deal. Everyone gets two cards, the dealer shows one.
2. 2On your turn: Hit (take a card), Stand, Double (double the bet and take one more card) or Split a pair into two hands.
3. 3Then the dealer draws until 17 or more and stands on 17.
4. 4A win pays 1:1, a blackjack (an ace and a ten-value card) pays 3:2, a tie gives your bet back.

Good to know

• Cards 2 to 10 count their number, J, Q and K count 10, an ace 1 or 11.
• When the dealer shows an ace you can take insurance: half your bet, paid 2:1 if the dealer has blackjack.
• No seat free? Bet behind a player: your bet follows their first hand.
